Singer and songwriter Sista Afia has acknowledged a select group of colleagues in the music industry who consistently support her work, stating that although the backing is not widespread, she deeply appreciates those who stand by her.

Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty, the vocalist revealed that only a few industry players regularly show support for her music, but the ones close to her always come through.

“I have colleagues in the industry that support me, not just musicians. Not a lot of them, but the ones I’m close to do their best,” she noted.

She expressed gratitude to fellow artistes who make an effort to share her releases and promote her craft.

“Shoutout to Medikal…. he does his best. Anytime I release a song, he makes sure he posts it on all his social media platforms. Shoutout to Wendy Shay, she does that too. Sefa, Akiyana, Efia Nocturnal… I have some people who do that, but not the whole industry,” she said.

According to her, she also reciprocates the gesture, even to artistes she may not personally be close with.

“I do the same for others, even the ones I’m not close with, I’m like that,” she said.

She revealed that at a point she felt discouraged due to lack of reciprocation, which made her briefly decide to stop supporting others.

“I remember I got angry and said I was not going to support anybody again. That was because I kept doing it willingly, like I always do.”

However, her stance has since evolved, and she now aligns her support with those who also back her career.

“I feel like when you win I win, we are all in this together. Right now, I support who supports me,” she added.
