Rapper Guru has expressed confidence in his leadership capabilities stating that, his experience as student’s leader at the country’s premier university has equipped him to one day lead Ghana.
Guru who is currently the the University of Ghana Students Representative Council (SRC) President, boldly declared that overseeing the activities of UG’s SRC has prepared him for national leadership responsibilities.
“For someone who has led an SRC presidency in Legon, he can also lead Ghana any day, any time. Majority of the people who have been SRC presidents in Legon are now in Parliament, Ministries….most of the student leaders are the ones there,” he said in an interview.
According to him, the role demands resilience, discipline and high-level decision making traits he believes are essential to govern a country.
“Legon has really helped me, it has taught me endurance, tolerance, being more corporate in terms of understanding leadership. You are governed by a constitution, and the training I’ve gone through….unless someone has experienced the same thing, they can’t make it,” he added.
Guru further noted that without exposure to such rigorous leadership environments, one may struggle to manage major governance responsibilities.
