Hon. Martin Agyei-Mensah Korsah, Member of Parliament for Techiman South, has appealed to the Government and the Military High Command to confer posthumous recruit status on the six young women who died during the recent Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise at the El Wak Sports Stadium.
The MP made the call in a heartfelt statement posted on his official Facebook wall, where he expressed deep sorrow over the incident and urged the state to honour the aspirations of the deceased.
In his Facebook post, the MP described the El Wak Stadium recruits tragedy as a painful moment for the nation, stressing that the young women lost their lives while pursuing a noble ambition to serve Ghana. According to him, their sacrifices must not be overlooked.

“They have met their untimely deaths sadly, but deserve to be conferred with their ultimate dream,” he wrote on Facebook. “Wherever they are, let’s appease their souls with their heart’s desire. Let not their blood shed on this unfinished journey of a noble cause be in vain.”
Background to the tragedy
The incident occurred during a physical screening exercise at the El Wak Stadium, one of the designated centres for the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment process.

Hundreds of applicants had gathered for the exercise, but the event turned tragic when six young women collapsed during the activities and were later pronounced dead.
