The Queenmother (Kwahuhemaa) of the Kwahu Traditional Council, Nana Adwoa Gyemfua, has been released on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohonu, following her alleged abduction.
Nana Adwoa Gyemfua was reportedly picked up by men believed to be members of the National Security in the early hours of Monday, November 17, 2025.
According to reports, the incident took place during an attack on the palace of the Paramount Chief.
In a police statement, however, the abducted Queenmother was released on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohonu.
“The Inspector-General of Police has directed the release of the Queen Mother of Kwahu, following an operation by some officers this morning.”
He has further directed the Police Professional Standards Bureau to conduct investigations into the circumstances surrounding the operation.
The statement indicated that any officers found culpable in connection with the operation should be “sanctioned.”
Meanwhile, security has been intensified in and around Kwahu to ensure the safety of all persons.
