The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) announced that it has acted swiftly to protect residents by safely relocating a hazardous bee swarm at Okorase Nyarkroma in the Eastern Region.
GNFS said their intervention comes after residents reported a bee invasion at a local facility, raising concerns for public safety.
The operation, carried out by a team of eight rescuers from the Koforidua Metro Fire Station and led by ADO I Serwaah-Kyere, followed a distress call received at 1403 hours on November 23, 2025.
According to the team they arrived at the scene at 1429 hours, where they discovered that the bees had formed a swarm beneath an abandoned roofing sheet, posing a serious risk to people in the area.
The team used safety measures to move the swarm to nearby vegetation at 1507 hours, ensuring that the bees remained unharmed while protecting both residents and the environment.
“Through a coordinated and professional measures, the rescuers successfully relocated the swarm to a safe nearby vegetation at 1507 hours, without neutralizing the bees, to ensure both public safety and environmental protection,” the Eastern Region Public Relations stated in a Facebook post on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
