The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has outlined measures to clamp down on street trading, shop extensions onto pavements, and the indiscriminate parking of vehicles within the Bantama Sub-Metro.
The Assembly notes that such activities continue to cause congestion and heavy traffic along the Bantama High Street and within the Bantama Market enclave.
“The Assembly strongly condemns these unlawful acts and cautions all individuals involved to desist immediately,” it said in a statement dated November 25, 2025.
Consequently, traders conducting business on pavements and asphalted access routes around the Bantama Market have been instructed to move to the Racecourse Market without delay.
“All affected traders are further instructed to contact the Bantama Sub-Metro Administrator and team for allocation and guidance at the forecourt of the KMA office at the Racecourse Market.”
It further directed that all unauthorized structures and shop extensions occupying pedestrian walkways be removed at once, cautioning that those left standing will be demolished and their owners surcharged from November 28, 2025.
