Ghanaian musician D-Cryme has appealed to the public to respect emergency service vehicles and stop the growing trend of racing with ambulances, fire tenders, and other priority service vehicles on the road.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, monitored by Angelonline on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the rapper expressed concern about the behaviour of some drivers who fail to make way when sirens are heard.
“I’m pleading with these priority services in the country, like ambulances and fire services. Please let’s stop racing them,” he said.
According to him, he has observed this troubling behaviour for months and believes many people underestimate the seriousness of emergencies.
“Anytime these sirens go on, they might not have the platform to tell us how intense the emergency is. But a lot of people think they just do it for doing sake, and it’s very unfortunate,” he noted.
He cautioned that emergencies only feel distant until they affect one’s own family.
“There’s a saying that the mad man is funny until it’s your family member. Until it happens to you, that’s when you see the intensity of it,” he added.
D-Cryme stressed that road users must always give way to emergency vehicles, even if they are unsure of the situation.
“So when we hear these sirens, irrespective of the service, please let’s pave the way for them. They might not have the chance to tell you that someone is in danger. If there’s a siren, whether true or not, let’s just give them way,” he appealed.
