The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has strongly dismissed rumors that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has passed away, describing the claims as completely false, misleading, and without any basis.
The clarification follows growing speculation and claims made by unidentified individuals alleging that Mr. Yohuno was deceased.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, November 30, 2025, the Service reaffirmed that the claims are completely false and should be disregarded.
“We wish to categorically state that these reports are false.
“The IGP is alive and well and going about his duties as expected.
“We urge our officers, family members, loved ones, and the general public to disregard these reports,” the statement emphasized.
The Service further noted that spreading such falsehoods is unlawful, and anyone found responsible will face the appropriate consequences.
“We would like to caution persons behind these malicious, insensitive, and reckless claims to note that disinformation constitutes an offense and perpetrators will be brought to justice when identified,” part of the statement mentioned.
