The Ghana Police Service, through the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team, has arrested a suspect in connection with a domestic abuse case at Okushibri near Apollonia.
The suspect, Bright Kpodo, was recently seen in a viral video assaulting a woman believed to be his partner.
His actions left the victim with an injury to her left eye. She was visibly distressed in the video and could be seen calling for help from pedestrians and motorists.
In a police statement, the Service said its Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team launched a swift intelligence operation which led officers to Okushibri near Apollonia, where both the victim and the suspect were located.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Kpodo, also known as Horror, and the victim are partners living together.
According to the statement, the suspect is currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations.
Arrangements are also being made to provide the necessary support for the victim.
The Police Service has urged the public to report incidents of domestic violence for investigation and prosecution.
