The Northern Regional Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in a kidnapping case, arresting three suspects and rescuing the victim after an intense gunfire exchange.
The suspects, identified as Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi, and Osman Bandi, were part of a syndicate of four individuals who kidnapped a 42-year-old man in Wapuli, a community in the Yendi District, on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
According to a press release issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Regional Police Headquarters on Monday, December 8, the suspects demanded a ransom of GH₵ 100,000 from the victim’s family in exchange for his release.

However, the police were quick to respond to the situation, dispatching a team of five officers from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (RPID) to Wapuli on a surveillance, rescue, and arrest mission.
On Friday, December 5, the team successfully rescued the victim and arrested the three suspects after an intense gunfire exchange.
The fourth suspect is believed to have sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange and is currently on the run.
The police are urging the public to provide any relevant information that could lead to his arrest.
The arrested suspects are currently in police custody and will be arraigned before court.
