President John Dramani Mahama has formally requested the withdrawal of a Private Member’s Bill seeking to repeal the Act establishing the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
The request, directed to the Majority Leader and Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, follows the President’s public endorsement of the OSP as a vital institution in Ghana’s anti-corruption architecture.

At a meeting with the Peace Council on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, President Mahama expressed strong support for strengthening the OSP’s role in combating corruption.
In a statement issued by the Presidency Communicatins on Thursday, December 11, 2025, and signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament and Spokesperson to the President, Mr. Mahama further reiterated his call for the Office to intensify efforts to boost public confidence and tackle corruption head-on.
He added that this step is in line with the “objectives informing the establishment of the office.”
