A cargo truck caught fire at Budumburam in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, with firecrackers suspected to be the cause of the blaze.

According to a statement issued by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Sunday, December 14, the truck was carrying hazardous materials, including firecrackers, in contravention of E.I. 21 of 1999.
Preliminary findings suggest that the fire may have been caused by spontaneous ignition due to improper storage of the materials.

Reinforcement from Kasoa fire station, led by Station Officer (STNO) II Takyi, responded to the emergency call at 8:16pm and used portable fire extinguishers to completely douse the fire at 10:29pm.

Reports further indicated that there were no casualties recorded.
However, the truck was largely salvaged with minor smoke damage, and the incident has been reported to the police for further investigation.
