Leader of the Union Government (UG), Akwasi Addae Odike, has stated that today’s youth are imitating politicians who display their wealth indiscriminately.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Monday, December 15, 2025, he remarked that Ghanaian leaders are teaching the youth how to engage in theft.
“It is the leadership that has brought the country to its current state; the leaders are instructing the youth on how to steal,” he said.
According to him, leadership sets the example for others to follow, adding that politicians view this country as a safe haven for embezzling funds.
“Considering the self-serving politicians who believe that politics is a refuge for acquiring wealth through dubious means, that is what the youth are observing. There is a saying that leadership sets the example for others to emulate,” Odike reiterated.
He revealed that when one visits churches today, thieves are held in high regard, despite the questionable sources of their wealth.
“Today, when you go to church and are a thief, they offer you a prominent seat. They do not care where you come from or how you acquired your money; all they do is applaud, admire, and exalt you.” he revealed.
Odike hinted that, pastors and politicians exploit and decieve people, that’s what the youth have witnessed, and they look for an expedient way, cutting corners to accumulate wealth.
” Those in leadership are involved in plain sight. Those who are more knowledgeable are aware; many pastors exploit people, and politicians deceive the populace and take their money, which has trickled down to the youth,” he highlighted.
