The Rural Fire Department of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Northern Regional Command has recently conducted a training program for community fire volunteer squads in the Tolon District.
In a statement issued and dated Monday, December 15, 2025, by the Public Relations Officer in the Northern Region,it highlighted on the aim of the initiative.
According to the statement, the training was aimed at equipping the volunteers with the ability to educate residents on fire prevention.
“The training was aimed at strengthening their capacity to educate residents on fire prevention and to respond effectively to fire outbreaks, particularly in hard-to-reach communities,” the statement revealed.
The initiative was coordinated by ADO I Sulemana Cosmos, the Regional Rural Fire Officer, in collaboration with ADO I Seidu Issah, the Acting District Rural Fire Officer at the Tolon District Fire Station.
The training engaged volunteers from the communities of Nlala Yili, Yobzeri, and Gbanjon.
