The New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team member, Aaron Asiedu Antwi, has argued that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) erred in its decision to put former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta on Interpol red alert.
Mr. further labelled the OSP’s actions as incompetent, stating that issuing an Interpol Red Alert against Ken Ofori-Atta without first laying charges was procedurally improper, since extradition can only take place after that.
“Extradition should first be secured, as it is a prerequisite before any formal charges can be pursued,” he noted during the Angel Morning Show(AMS) on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Speaking further, Mr. Antwi condemned the Special Prosecutor, stating that the OSP filed charges against Ken Ofori-Atta only a day before Interpol acted, causing concern among Ghanaians.
“These has made politicians and Ghanaians say that the special prosecutor is just joking with us. Why do you play with the emotions of Ghanaians?” he asked.
He further stressed that Ghanaians have a duty to safeguard the public purse and warned that misusing the office’s resources could prompt complaints about its competence, emphasizing that he supports reform, not dismantling it.
GH¢750 million has been allocated to the office, and if it becomes dysfunctional, Ghanaians may view it as incompetent.
“I’m not against collapsing the office but I’m against pouring the content of the container out and keeping the container because we need to protect the public purse,” he emphasized.
