The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has announced plans to conduct a mass burial for unclaimed, unknown, and unidentified bodies currently held at its mortuary.
According to a public notice issued by hospital management, the facility has reached full capacity, prompting the urgent need for the exercise.
“Relatives, next of kin, or any persons with an interest in any of the bodies are requested to contact the management of KBTH within twenty-one (21) days of this notice, on or before January 18, 2026, to make the necessary arrangements,” the facility said.
The notice indicates that hospital records show approximately 320 bodies are expected to be included in the burial.
“All bodies remaining unclaimed after deadline will be buried in accordance with approved procedures and relevant regulations.”
The mass burial will be conducted in collaboration with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and will adhere to approved procedures and relevant regulations.
