Singer Wendy Shay has sparked conversation online after sharing her thoughts on the difficulties that can come with mentoring young people.
In a Facebook post on Monday, January 5, 2026, the artiste wrote,
“The hardest part of mentoring someone else’s child is often the parents’ interference What’s all this..”

Her comment quickly drew attention from fans and followers, many of whom weighed in on the issue.
The post triggered mixed reactions across social media. While some fans agreed with Wendy Shay, noting that excessive parental involvement can make mentorship difficult, others advised her to take a step back.
Some commenters suggested that she should continue to support and encourage the children “from afar” without getting too deeply involved, in order to avoid unnecessary pressure or conflict with parents.
Others were more direct, stating that if parents are interfering too much, the children should simply return to their families and allow their parents to take full responsibility for their upbringing.
“Let them go if their parents are interfering. Is my prayer nothing happens to them but in case of anything you know the Ghana parents,” one fan commented.
