The Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (CDAG), Central Region, has expressed deep concern over alleged extortion, intimidation, and unprofessional conduct by police officers on the Accra-Cape Coast-Takoradi highway.
Drivers have reportedly been subjected to frequent stops, unnecessary delays, and demands for money at checkpoints.
CDAG specifically mentions Corporal Bless Attipoe, allegedly from the Winneba Police Command, as being involved in such practices.
The group is calling for a thorough investigation into the matter.
“We support lawful policing, but these alleged acts undermine public trust, worsen drivers’ hardships, and affect transport costs and the economy,” CDAG Central Regional Chairman said.
The group is urging the Inspector-General of Police to intervene, strengthen monitoring of police checkpoints, and ensure professional standards are enforced.
