The Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested one person in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Upper East Region on February 8, 2026.
In a statement, a special team deployed by Inspector‑General of Police Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno apprehended the suspect, Simon Apusiga, alias Ananga, aged 42, on February 10, following an intelligence‑led operation at his hideout in Tarkwa Huni Valley area.
According to the police, preliminary investigations reveal that Apusiga fled Zebilla immediately after the incident and was traced to the Western Region.
He is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations, and will be brought before court to face the full rigours of the law.
The police have intensified efforts to arrest other suspects involved in the case.
The CID’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawa, signed the press release confirming the developments in the ongoing investigation.
The service further urged the public to cooperate with authorities and provide any information that may aid the investigation into the Zebilla police officer’s murder.
