Accra Hearts of Oak secured a famous 1-0 victory over arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in the Week 22 fixture of the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League (GPL).
The Phobians, who played 56 minutes with ten men, claimed the bragging rights in the Super Clash at the Baba Yara Stadium, on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
The decisive moment arrived in the 14th minute when Hearts won a free kick.
Martin Karikari delivered a perfect cross into the 18-yard box, and Baba Adamu rose highest to meet it, powering a header into the far-right top corner beyond goalkeeper Camara, who was left rooted as the ball nestled in the net.
Emmanuel Amankwah was sent off in the first half after picking up two quick bookings (19th and 34th minutes), the second for a needless foul.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Hearts held their nerve, thanks largely to captain and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.
The Black Stars’ shot-stopper produced a string of crucial saves to frustrate Kotoko’s attacking efforts and preserve the lead until the final whistle.
The result lifts Hearts of Oak into third place, behind Bibiani Gold Stars and Medeama, who continue to occupy the summit.
Coach Didi Dramani’s side will now shift focus to their next fixture against Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium.
For Kotoko, the defeat is a major setback as they drop out of the top four, sitting fifth with 35 points, behind Aduana Stars.
The Porcupine Warriors will travel to face Young Apostles in their next fixture.
