The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Accra has taken over the alleged assault case involving renowned Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama after the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Yohuno, forwarded it.
The CID takeover follows the victim’s visit to the police headquarters in Accra on March 26, 2026, as part of investigations into the alleged assault on him in Tamale on March 21 by a group linked to the IGP’s Special Operations Team.
“Today, the IGP directed, among other things, that the CID take over the investigation. He has also directed the Director-General of Police for the Professional Standard Bureau to expedite action,” the police reported after the meeting between the IGP and the artist.
The Service assures the victim of a thorough investigation process to ensure that justice is served.
“We have assured a thorough investigation, the investigation will continue, and any person (s) found culpable will be taken through the due process.”
The criminal investigation and professional conduct investigation, the Service said, will run concurrently.
