The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has launched “16×16”, a nationwide World Cup fan engagement initiative, in partnership with Tribe Culture Fest and supported by the embassies of the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The initiative will bring live match screenings, cultural showcases, music, food, and tourism exhibitions to all 16 regions of Ghana, transforming the World Cup into a national lifestyle and economic activation.

Speaking at the event at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 27, 2026, the Chief Executive Officer of the GTA, Maame Efua Houadjeto emphasized that “16×16” is not just about football, but about positioning Ghana as a destination that converts global moments into local economic opportunities.
“16×16 is not just about football; it is about positioning Ghana as a destination that understands how to convert global moments into local economic opportunity,” she stated.
The event aligns with GTA’s mandate to promote Ghana as a vibrant tourism and cultural destination, leveraging global moments to drive visibility and economic impact.
CEO of Tribe Culture Fest, Nana Gyimah said the initiative will showcase Ghana’s culture to the world, combining football with music, food, art, and identity.

The launch was attended by representatives from the three host nation embassies, the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana, and key stakeholders from tourism, culture, and sports sectors.
