The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has commiserated with victims of the collapse of an uncompleted church building near the Experimental D/A School in Accra Newtown.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, March 29, resulted in the death of three persons, while 20 others were rescued and are receiving treatment at the hospital.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, the politician expressed sorrow over the development and described it as a “heartbreak.”
“My heart breaks for the families affected by yesterday’s building collapse in New Town. To those waiting for news and those mourning deep losses, the entire nation stands with you in prayer and grief,” he posted.
Mr. Nketiah also used the moment to thank the emergency team, including volunteers, whose swift efforts were crucial in saving lives.
“We owe a debt of gratitude to our first responders, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ghana Police Service, and the brave volunteers on the ground who have worked tirelessly through the night.”
He added, “May God grant us strength and comfort as we navigate this tragedy together.”
