The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that, it fully supports a Supreme Court case seeking to end the delegate system used by political parties to select presidential and parliamentary candidates.

Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress, Godwin Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, announced on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in a Facebook post that the NDC has filed to the suit.

He said the party fully supports the contention of the plaintiffs.

The NDC further said the current system leaves out most ordinary party members.

The plaintiffs want the Supreme Court to rule that all party members should have the right to vote in internal elections.

The suit was filed on January 23, 2026, by Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, and Dr. Christine Amoako-Nuamah against the NPP, NDC, CPP, the Electoral Commission, and the Attorney-General.

They argue that the delegate system creates a “privileged voting class” and violates the 1992 Constitution.
