The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect wanted in connection with the murder of two persons at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspect, identified as Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, 72 years old, was arrested on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at his hideout at Tikrom near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.
The arrest was announced in a statement issued on November 2, 2026, and signed by Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Command.
According to the police, the arrest follows an earlier press release issued by the Accra Regional Police Command on October 30, 2026, concerning the murder of Irene Atuguba, 47, and George Atuguba, 57.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the murders allegedly arose from a financial dispute involving the deceased, George Atuguba, and the suspect, who had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000.00 but failed to repay the money.
Police said acting on intelligence regarding the suspect’s whereabouts, a team proceeded to his hideout and successfully apprehended him. During the operation, a Smith and Wesson pistol together with seven rounds of live ammunition was retrieved from him.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting investigations, while the recovered firearm and ammunition have been retained as exhibits.
