A late-night blaze tore through multiple wooden structures in Abelemkpe on Wednesday, prompting a swift and coordinated response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Responding to the emergency incident, the GNFS said it received a distress call at 22:47 GMT, reporting a fire outbreak involving several wooden buildings in the area.
Firefighters from the GNFS Headquarters were dispatched and arrived at the scene within 12 minutes.
Reinforcements from the Industrial Area and Trade Fair Fire Stations joined shortly after to bolster firefighting efforts, the Service stated.
According to the GNFS, the inferno was brought under control by 23:51 and fully extinguished by 02:10 on Thursday morning.
Although multiple structures were completely razed, firefighters managed to salvage several adjoining properties, preventing further damage.
“No casualties were reported,” a statement from the GNFS reads and indicated that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
