Nigerian digital creator, Jarvis, has disclosed that her fiance, Peller, once suggested they seal their relationship with a blood pact as a symbol of lifelong commitment, but she declined because of her Christian beliefs.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Jarvis revealed that Peller came up with the idea after seeing reports on social media about couples who had entered into similar agreements.
According to her, Peller believed such a pact would discourage infidelity because of the alleged consequences attached to breaking the agreement.
“He asked me to enter into a blood covenant with him, but I refused. He said he had seen online that some couples had done it and that if either partner was unfaithful after taking the oath, there would be serious consequences. So he wanted us to do the same,” she explained.
Jarvis said she was not comfortable with the proposal, insisting that, as a Christian, the only covenant sealed with blood that she believes in is the one between God and humanity.
“I believe the only blood covenant we have is with God. Because of that, I don’t think people should be engaging in those kinds of practices,” she stated.
Although she rejected the suggestion, Jarvis emphasized that she has complete confidence in Peller’s faithfulness, noting that their relationship is founded on trust, dedication and shared faith.
“He has never cheated on me before. If he cheats on me, he will die—that’s the rule in our relationship. We’re committed to each other, and because we pray together, God is at the centre of our relationship,” she said.
She later clarified that her comments were not about an actual blood covenant but rather the promises and commitment they have made to each other.
“The trust and commitment are already there. That’s why I made that statement, because we’ve made vows to one another. We truly love each other, so there’s no reason for anyone to be unfaithful. We continue to pray that nothing like that ever happens, and by God’s grace, I believe everything will work out well,” she added.
