Parts of the capital city, Accra have been flooded after hours of rainfall which begun last night.

Reports indicate that the rains started around 11:00 pm through to Tuesday morning leaving places such as Adabraka, Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Kasoa, Weija and Teshie submerged.

Motorists plying the Kaneshie to Dansoman road were stranded as those routes, including Pamprom traffic light stretch were filled with water.

A heavy traffic has also occurred on the Kasoa to Accra road due to blockage caused by a landslide around the tollbooth area.

Some persons who called into Angel FM’s Anopa Bofo Morning Show said they were either stuck at home or on the road due to the floods.

A teacher around the Weija Area said that students haven’t reported to school due to the floods.

Other people took to social media to express their displeasure and concerns about the Accra floods.

A twitter user tweeted that “Please people going to Gomoa, CapeCoast, mankessim, Takoradi and Nzema should hold on, the road is blocked because of the rain People going to Amasaman, nsawam should hold on. Those from nsawam coming to Accra should also hold on Circle too is flooded #AccraFloods”

There have been reports of trees been uprooted and blocking roads due to the heavy winds that accompanied the rain.
