The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawasi in the Ashanti Region, Mohammad Muntaka Mubarak has confirmed media reports that two MPs and 13 Parliamentary staff have tested positive for the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.
Reports that made round on social media indicated that the staff and the MPs tested positive after going for voluntary testing.
Parliament however denied the reports in a statement which was published on Angelfmonlinegh.com.
The MP who is unhappy with the denials confirmed on Joy Prime that the media report was true and hence slammed his colleague MP and Majority, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu for aiding the press conference.
“When things happen this way, you tell the Ghanaian people especially the media that look, we don’t want to create fear and that we are not done with the tests yet so let’s wait. When we are done we will communicate to you. But when you go out there to deny and yet you know that what happened is a fact and you lie to the people that pay us. What happened is the fact and is the truth”, he reportedly said on Joy Prime.
He stated that: “On Wednesday one MP and one staff tested positive and on Thursday one MP and 12 staff also tested positive.”
