Akufo-Addo’s management of COVID-19 ‘so far so good’ – Kufour

Former President John Agyekum Kufour has lauded the President, Nana Akufo-Addo’s efforts at fighting the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.

In an exclusive interview on Angel FM’s Anɔpa Bɔfo, the former President said Nana Akufo-Addo’s government must be commended for its efforts at fighting the disease because, the various strategies put in place is achieving the needed the results.

“Government protocols put in place aimed at fighting COVID-19 is so far so good, we need to follow the protocols to help prevent the spread of the disease…,” he said in the interview.

To him, the fact that the world is praising Ghana’s efforts at fighting the disease lends credence to the fact that Ghana is doing something good.

“Even the whole world appreciates that the President and Ghana as a country has done very well in the fight against the disease…so we should continue following the protocols so that we can fight the disease…,” he added.

Ghana currently has recorded close to 10,000 COVID-19 cases of the deadly pandemic. Latest figures posted by the Ghana Health Service indicated that 9,910 cases had been recorded as of Monday, June 8, 2020.

The Service further adds that a total of 48 persons have died after contracting the disease while 3,645 persons have recovered.

The leaves the number of active cases at 6,217.

Greater Accra has 6,436 – the highest of all recorded cases – while Ashanti follows with 1,734.

With 145 new cases, Western region’s total figure is now 769. Central has 489, Eastern 166, Volta 102, Western North 74 and Upper East 42.

The rest are Northern region 37, Oti 28, Upper West 22, Bono East seven, North East two, Savannah one and Bono one.

Ahafo is the only region without any COVID-19 cases.
