President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Cecilia Abena Dapaah as caretaker Minister for the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection.
Mrs Dapaah’s appointment which takes immediate effect, follows the long absence of the substantive Minister, Sarah Adwoa Safo who sought an extension of her leave ending August 31, 2021.
A statement issued on Wednesday, October, 6, 2021, by the Communications Director at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, indicated that the Sanitation and Water Resources Minister should double as Gender Minister until further notice.

There has been frosty relationship between Adwoa Safo and the National Coordinator for the School Feeding Programme, Gertrude Quashigah, after the former relieved the latter of her duties immediately she took over the post.
Pressure however, from the Presidency forced her to backtrack claiming the dismissal letter to Mrs Quashigah was an error.
Mrs Quashigah on Tuesday night indicated on Metro TV’s ‘Good Evening Ghana’ program that Adwoa Safo had refused to meet her despite several attempts to do so, since assuming the role as Gender Minister some nine months ago.
Last week a group of caterers on the feeding program at a news conference demanded dismissal of the Coordinator and directors at the Secretariat for failing to do their job well resulting in the long delay in the payments of arrears owed them.
But Angelonline.com.gh has learnt that the delay is due to absence of the sector Minister, who is entrusted with the responsibility to sign off payments before the funds are released to the caterers.
This is a developing story which will be updated when new details come in.
