The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has called off its intended industrial action which sought to demand for a review of their salaries and allowances.

According to the President of the association, Mr. Alex Nartey, their decision to reverse it initial strike, comes after having a successful discussion with the Finance Ministry and the Controller and Accounts General Department.

This comes weeks after members of the association had planned to lay down their tools on Thursday October 28, 2021 over salary and allowances issues.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, October 27,2021 at the Law Court Complex in Accra, Mr. Alex Nartey, disclosed that after serving notices of the association’s strike, the Office of the President wrote to the Judicial Council and called for a meeting between both parties.

He added that the first meeting held on October 26 this year, another meeting had been scheduled for Thursday, October 28 to delve into the matter, hence necessitated their move to suspend the strike.

Mr. Nartey Alex explained further that since JUSAG had outstanding salary issues to be address with the government, they will embark on a nationwide strike starting, November 1, this year if their concerns are not met after today’s meeting.

The National Executive Council of JUSAG on October 1, issued a demand for the implementation of the Judicial Council recommendations on salaries and allowances of members of JUSAG.

They gave the government two weeks ultimatum to conclude discussions on all related issues of the outstanding payments of 2021 salaries and other allowances.

Accordingly, the Council served notice of industrial action on the National Labour Commission, the Ghana Bar Association, Government and management of the Judicial Service effective October 28, this year.
