A hatrick of goals from Zubairu Ibrahim helped Kumasi-based King Faisal Babies to defeat Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The in-form Isha Allah boys won the game 3-2 to win the bragging rights in the Kumasi derby over their city rivals.
King Faisal took the lead in the fourth minute through Zubairu Ibrahim before adding the second in the 17 to give King Faisal a 2-0 lead.
Isaac Oppong and Fabio Gama came close to reducing the deficit with some goal scoring opportunities but their efforts were wasted, therefore ending the first half a 2-0 advantage to the King Faisal.
Cameroonian striker, Mfegue Omgba pulled one back for the home side after recess in the 46th minute.
Second half substitutes, Franck Mbella, Solomon Sarfo Taylor and Dickson Afoakwa gave the Fabulous boys some hope of stagging a come back after posing a threat to the away side, but there was more to come from the babies.
Zubairu, who was ruthless, had the last say as he scored the third goal for coach Nurudeen Amadu boys to complete a remarkable hatrick to end the game 3-2 in favour of the away team.
He went ahead to win the Nasco man of the match.
The result means Asante Kotoko’s 5 matches unbeaten streak has been ended prematurely by their fierce local rivals, King Faisal.
The win also pushes King Faisal to the summit of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League table above Kotoko with a superior goal difference but on same 13 points.
