Sports Journalist with the Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) Saddick Adams better known as Sports Obama, has been named the sports journalist of the year at the 46th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) awards.
He received the award last night December 17, 2021 at a colourful ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The Head of Sports for Accra-based Angel FM was recognized following his impact and contributions in the Ghanaian sports industry.
He beat off competition from Media General’s Juliet Bawuah, John Vigah of Ghanaian Times and Photojournalist Samuel Boakye-Buckman-Oliseh.
The SWAG Sports Journalist of the Year Award is one of the new innovations President Kwabena Yeboah and his executives instituted to honour meticulous sports journalists who have excelled in the year under review.
The award was presented to him by Ghana’s vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who graced the occasion as the special guests of honor.
Sports Obama took to his social media pages and described the moment as the “best” in his life, and thanked all and sundry for the support most especially colleagues in the profession.
“Truly one of the best moments in my life. To all my colleagues in the category and all sports journalists, proud of all your superb works. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes” Saddick Adams tweeted.
Saddick Adams under same year November produce a video documentary on how Africa’s best goalkeeper Robert Mensah was stabbed to death, a piece that made him received applauds globally in the sporting field.
He has won multiple awards including the 2018 Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) sports journalist of the year.
