Former President John Mahama has expressed his condolences to families and victims of the Bogoso explosion that has left dozens dead.
The 2020 Presidential Candidate of the NDC described Thursday’s blast as a sad day for the nation.
In a Facebook post, the Former President sad that “a truly sad day for Ghana! My deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the unfortunate disaster at Appiatse, in the Bogoso District of the Western Region this afternoon”.
While commiserating with families of victims, he added that “Let’s pray for the speedy recovery of the injured, as we also urge the security and emergency services to continue to work assiduously towards preventing further spread, alleviate the damage and suffering in the affected communities”.
He further encouraged the chiefs and people in the affected areas that, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the country stands with them, in this time of grief.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has also described the incident as unfortunate and tragic and promised that government will spare no effort to ensure a rapid return to a situation of normalcy for residents of Apiate.

Preliminary investigations by the police have established that a mining explosive vehicle moving from Tarkwa to Chirano Mines collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the explosion.
Authorities have so far confirmed that 17 lives have been lost while more than 70 people have sustained various degrees of injuries.
Most of the injured persons have been conveyed to hospitals and health centres within the Western Region for treatment.
