The Chief Executive Officer [CEO], of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah, has disclosed his willingness to build a 20,000-capacity stadium for the club with the assistance of 100,000 supporters who will contribute $100 each.
He announced that when committed fans voluntarily donate to support the club’s project, his ambition will materialise.
The Porcupine Warriors over the years have adopted the Baba Yara Stadium as their home grounds where they played their home matches.
However, Nana Amponsah believes that with the support of the said number of loyal fans, he will ensure the club owns its stadium within 18 months.
“I will build a stadium for Asante Kotoko within 18 months if I get 100, 000 committed supporters to contribute $100 each.
“Look, if 10,000 fans attend a single game of our club averagely we can get about GHS200,000 after all the deductions. That is GHS400,000 for two home games and convert that amount to dollars. It’s a huge amount and we can keep our best players and build a stadium” he told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.
He added that supporters who contribute their quota towards the project will have their names on the stadium walls.
“Anyone who pays $100 for the Asante Kotoko stadium project, will have his or her name and date of birth on the block forever.”
The CEO also said the club will announce a new payment platform in the coming days to aid them to contribute the $100 towards the construction of the new stadium.
Nana Yaw Amponsah was appointed as CEO of the club in 2021.
