Morocco’s Jiyed Redouane to handle Ghana vs Nigeria World Cup playoff

Moroccan Referee Jiyed Redouane has reportedly been appointed by FIFA to officiate the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar playoff between Ghana and Ethiopia, Angelonline.com.gh understands.

According to Head of Sports of Accra-based Angel FM, Saddick Adams, the 42-year-old CAF and FIFA referee will serve as the center referee of the first leg to be staged in Ghana.

The final World Cup playoff encounter takes place at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday, March 25, 2021 at 19:00 hours before the reverse fixture in Abuja Nigeria four days later.

Jiyed Redouane handled three matches at the just ended 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon involving Equatorial Guinea vs Gabon, Burkina Faso vs Gabon and the third place play-off between host Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

In all, he flashed 22 yellow cards and one red card in the aforementioned matches he officiated.

Meanwhile, he was the man in charge of Ghana’s World Cup Group G encounter with Ethiopia which took place at Cape Coast on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 19:00 hours.

The no nonsense North African referee led his first international match on June 9, 2012 and also officiated at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Jiyed also handled series of matches in the qualifying matches prior to the 2014 and 2018 World Cup.
