Sulley Muntari struck to ensure Accra Hearts of Oak bounced back to winning ways with a home triumph over West African Football Academy (WAFA), in the Ghana Premier League this afternoon.

The Phobians emerged supreme at the Accra Sports Stadium by virtue of Muntari’s penalty to secure a 2-1 hard-fought win.

The home side took the lead in the 46th minute through Kojo Obeng Junior, who went past three defenders before slotting the ball home after the first half had ended goalless.

Nine minutes later, WAFA drew level with a brilliant free-kick by young chap Derrick Antwi Mensah in the 55th minute.

Coach Samuel Boadu, introduced winger, Patrick Razak into the game, who later won his side a penalty in the 74th minute, after goalkeeper Osei Bonsu brought him down in the box.

The 37-year-old Sulley Muntari then stepped forward and calmly converted the spot kick to give the Phobians the lead and what became the match winner.

The result means, after drawing four matches, Accra Hearts of Oak win their first match to move 5th on the league table with 29 points.

They play away to Aduana Stars in the week 20 fixtures of the 2021/22 GPL while WAFA host Real Tamale United at Sogakope.
