The former Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenim Boateng Adjei and his brother-in-law Francis Kwaku Arhin have been granted bail to the tune of GH¢5million with two sureties.
Mr. Adjenim Boateng Adjei was charged with 8 counts of using public office for profit and and nine counts of directly and indirectly influencing the procurement process to obtain an unfair advantage in the award of procurement contracts.
On the other hand, his brother-in-law, Francis Kwaku Arhin, has been charged with one count for using public office for profit.”
The Office of the Special Prosecutor announced the charges in a statement on Wednesday May 18.
However, Angel News Court correspondent, Ama Brako Ampofo, reported that both pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charges.
Mr. Agyenim Boateng has also been ordered to deposit his passport with the court until the final determination of the case.
However, his brother in-law, Mr. Arhin was allowed to retain his passport because he has a newborn and he is resident in the United Kingdom.
The court, presided over by Mary Nsekyire, accepted to grant the accused bail after the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng told the court of the accused persons’ willingness to collaborate with proceedings.
The case has so far been adjourned to June 28.
