The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has described the government’s decision not to extend the deadline for the ongoing SIM card re-registration as a mere talk.
According to him, he is optimistic the deadline will be extended despite the government’s notice.
His comments came at a time the Minister of Communications and Digitalization, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, maintained that the deadline for the exercise remains July 31.
This was after an initial deadline of March 31, 2022, was extended to 31st July.
However addressing a forum in Kumasi on Friday, July 22, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, urged all and sundry who are yet to re-register their cards to do so before the deadline.
“I, therefore appeal to them to do so before the 31st of July,” the Minister of Communications and Digitalization, said.
Commenting on the matter on TV3’s Key Points on Saturday, July 30, 2022, the loud politician deemed the Minister’s public notices as a talk and nothing serious that can be implemented.
“What she said in Kumasi is just talk, it is not true, she will extend it,” Sam George projected.
According to the MP, there are lots of challenges in linking the Ghana cards to the sim cards citing invalid input notification as feedback something he labelled as system inefficiency.
He also worried about the long queues at the registration centers which have become difficult for people to get registered.
“You haven’t resolved all these and you are going to punish them for your inefficiency, is that not arbitrary? Is that not capricious?” Sam Nartey George asked.
