Head Coach of the Black Stars Coach Otto Addo has officially released his 55-man provisional squad presented to the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
After several calls from Ghanaians to release the squad despite submitting it to FIFA he has officially published the names of the players on Friday, November 4, 2022.
Black Stars returns to the global showpiece after missing out in Russia 2018, where France emerged as winners.
Arsenal midfield kingpin Thomas Partey, captain Andre Dede Ayew and his younger Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Mohammed Salisu and Daniel Amartey.
The squad contains only three home-based players plying their trade in the Ghana Premier League namely, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Denis Korsah of Accra Hearts of Oak as well as Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s number one goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Imoro, Patrick Kpozo, Alidu Seidu, Salis Abdul Samed, Mudasiru Salifu and Kwasi Wriedt were outside the core of the team list.
Per the FIFA deadline date for submitting of players, Coach Otto Addo would be expected to name his final 23 or 26-man squad on November 12, 2022, four days before the start of the tournament.
Ghana has been housed in Group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
The Black Stars plays their first game against Portugal on November 24 before taking on Uruguay and South Korea respectively.
