The headmaster and the senior housemaster of the Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) in Tamale have been sidelined indefinitely by the Ghana Education Service (GES) over alleged students’ usage of toilet cubicles as dormitories in the school.
The decision follows a viral video on social media which had caused concerns to the GES and left parents and the general public talking.
According to the GES, the school has excess capacity to house an extra 300 students, with only 1467 out of 1790 vacancies declared by the school being filled.
The GES in a statement described the development as “unacceptable” for students to be sleeping in such a place and thus asked that the duo, the headmaster and the senior housemaster step aside whiles the matter is investigated.
