The leadership of the National Food Suppliers Association of Ghana (NAFSAG) has announced its intended action to picket at the premises of the Ministry of Education over arrears owed to its members.
According to the association, if the ministry fails to settle the outstanding debts within the next 14 days, they will not hesitate to picket.
In a statement dated and released on March 26, 2024, NAFSAG said their planned decision has become imminent due to the lack of equity and transparency in the fund’s disbursements to suppliers.
“It is worth to mention that only few selected under Ghana Commodity Exchange under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education have been catered for,” it said.
Expressing further their grievances, the Association has accused the Ministry of Education of a deliberate attempt to undermine the operations of the National Food Buffer Stock Company.
“We suspect a deliberate and unconscionable attempt by the Ministry of Education to frustrate the operational activities of the National Food Buffer Stock Company to the disadvantage and chagrin of the suppliers,” parts of the statement signed by Kwaku Amedume, Spokesperson of the association reads.
The Association further warned that it will not remain silent for its members to be cheated and given unfair treatment.
