Afenyo-Markin appointed chair of ECG Board

President Akufo-Addo has appointed the Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency in the Central Region, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, as chairman of the board of directors of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

His appointment was contained in a letter dated July 16, 2024, signed by Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, and addressed to the Minister of Energy.

“The President of the Republic has nominated Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin (MP.), Member of Parliament for Effutu in the Central Region, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (the “Company.”

“Kindly take the necessary steps to give effect to the President’s nomination in accordance with the Companies Act 2019 (Act 992) and the Regulations of the Company,” the letter read.

His appointment follows the resignation of Herbert Krapa from the role to assume the office of Minister of State at the Ministry of Energy.

Until his new appointment, Afenyo-Markin was the board chairman of the Ghana Road Fund.

With the latest development, the Majority Chief Whip, Annor Dompreh, will take over as the board chairman of the Ghana Road Fund.
