The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is hopeful Ghanaians will reject John Mahama over, what he describes as, the poor performance of the NDC flagbearer in government.

Dr. Bawumia made this known as part of his visit to the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency while paying a courtesy call to traditional authorities in Nsawam.

Dr. Bawumia noted that the contest is obviously between himself and John Mahama. He, however, believes that John Mahama’s work as President is not worthy enough to be given another chance to lead the country.

For Dr Bawumia, John Mahama’s legacy includes years of erratic power supply, youth unemployment, and cancellation of teacher and nursing training allowances, which Ghanaians should not be made to experience again.

He explains that the NPP government has been all about possibilities with the introduction of the free senior High School policy, teacher and nursing training allowance payment, digitization, planting for food and jobs, one constituency, and one ambulance amongst others.

In an interaction with the Chiefs, he noted that it was his wish to be elected to continue the good works of the NPP government.

He used the opportunity to reiterate some of his policies including investments in agriculture, equipping the chieftaincy institution to augment the government’s development agenda, job creation and reduction in the cost of electricity through investments in solar energy.

“The 2024 election is between myself and the former president. We have all seen the performance of the former president. This is not something someone has to tell us, we all say it. During his tenure things didn’t go on well. He said the flesh of the country is all gone and it is left with the bones.

“Getting chalk in schools was a challenge, he cancelled training allowance, and nursing training also was cancelled. Jobs were difficult for our youth but he said he was not a magician to manufacture jobs for our people. We have been experiencing ‘dumsor’ for four years.

“In 2016, we went for the election and he lost. He came back in 2020 and we didn’t vote for him. He said he is coming back this 2024. I believe that by the grace of God and your grace as well we will vote him out again for me to go,” he stated.

He continued: “Since we came into office everybody will attest to the fact that we as NPP have been able to work more than the NDC.”
