The Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Asuogyaman Constituency in the Eastern Region, Puis Enam Hadzide has shaded the incumbent Member of Parliament of the area, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, describing his stay in parliament as ineffective.
Therefore, he calls on the residents to kick out Mr. Ampem Nyarko out because, his mandate as a Parliamentarian in the day-to-day business of Parliament has become meaningless.
Speaking to Angelonline.com.gh at the party’s office in the constituency after filing his nominations to contest the 2024 parliamentary elections, Mr. Hadzide said the silence of the MP over the past seven years in parliament is comparable to a ‘dumb.’
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA) argued that other MPs can be seen and heard consistently on national television at parliamentary businesses seeking the developments of their constituents but residents of the Asuogyaman cannot say the same about its lawmaker.
“People are complaining that when you tune in to your radio sets and televisions, you will hear the voices of Members of Parliament of other constituencies speaking and fighting for development for the people but it is unfortunate that the same thing cannot be said about our MP.
“So it is time we get a new MP for a new direction so that Asuogyaman can also benefit from the election,” he said on Monday, September 9, 2024.
According to him, residents of the constituency are ready for change, claiming that the incumbent MP cannot account to people from some funds meant for development including the GETFund and others received on behalf of the constituency.
He, therefore, urges the electorate to take advantage of the December 7, 2024, polls to vote for him and the NPP Presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for a new Asuogyaman.
The Constituency Chairman of the party, Alhaji Asma Musa, holds the view that the people of Asuogyaman do not regret having Pius Enam Hadzide as its parliamentary candidate due to his hard work and commitment to the people.
He was confident the former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports will unseat the incumbent on December 7 and development the area.
