The Director of Operations of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Divine Nkrumah, has called for a critical review of the duties performed by the three arms of government.

He stated that the Judiciary, Executive, and Legislature must be closely monitored to ensure they are properly executing their roles.

According to Mr. Nkrumah, although laws exist, their interpretation should be well-managed to avoid creating unnecessary chaos.

His caution relates to the Supreme Court’s decision to overrule the Speaker’s ruling on the vacant seats in Parliament.

“You see, the law remains the law, but there is a way to manage it properly to prevent misinterpretation from causing havoc. Look at these institutions, I’m talking about the three arms of government: the Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary. If we don’t manage them properly, we could reach a point of no return where no one takes them seriously,” he said on the Angel Morning Show, Wednesday, November 13, 2024.

He stressed the need for immediate and thorough attention to the actions of these three arms to prevent any unforeseen calamity.

“We have to pay attention to their actions because each of these arms of government believes that whatever they do is backed by a certain law,” he said.

Divine Nkrumah reminded the arms of government that the 1992 Constitution was not written exclusively for legal practitioners, emphasizing the need to rethink how they carry out their duties.

“This law we are all talking about was written in English — it’s very basic and simple. The Constitution was not made for lawyers only, which is why it’s available for sale in traffic.

“Excuse me, but that’s why it’s written in simple English for everyone to understand. Sometimes, though, the arguments from these people raise questions about where they’re actually reading these laws from,” he told the host, Kwadwo Oppong Kyeremeh.
