In a statement, the NHIA described the decision, announced during the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), as a “significant turning point” for the scheme.
The NHIA highlighted that this bold step will have far-reaching implications for healthcare delivery in the country. With the additional resources, the scheme will be able to expand its coverage, settle claims promptly, and improve service delivery.
This, the statement said will ensures that every Ghanaian, regardless of socio-economic status, can access quality and affordable healthcare.
“This decision will significantly advance our goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all Ghanaians.
We are committed to working with all stakeholders to maximize the benefits of this critical intervention for the collective good of our nation.”
It further pledged its readiness to collaborate with government and other partners to build a healthier and more resilient Ghana.
