E/R: Three in court for alleged involvement in illegal mining

Three accused persons have been put before the Mpraeso Circuit Court for their alleged involvement in illegal mining activities, also known as ‘galamsey,’ in Eastern Region.

Suspects Freeman Kwafo, Augustine Asoma, and Bawa Muhammed were arrested by some youth of Akoase in Birim North District on March 21, 2025, and handed over to Police.

All three accused persons have been granted bail by court to reappear on April 25, 2025.

According to police statement, investigation is currently ongoing into circumstances surrounding alleged release of two Chinese suspects who were arrested together with three accused persons.
