Actor and comedian, Clemento Suarez, has shed lights on the financial aspects of being a comedian in Ghana.
Suarez in an interview said being a comedian can be a well-paying career, but it depends on one’s level of success,
“Being a comedian in Ghana pays a lot, but it’s dependent on the level you’ve reached. People are cautious to pay because they don’t see the value in your work.
“However, when you reach a certain level and your name is mentioned, they suddenly recognize your importance and are willing to pay your worth,” he mentioned.
He emphasized the importance of hard work and perseverance in achieving success as a comedian.
“You need to put in the effort to reach the top, and then you can dictate your terms. If not, they’ll try to dictate what they think you’re worth,” he asserted.
He also revealed that his highest-paying gig to date was an MC event that earned him an amount of GH¢80,000 for just one night.
“The highest I have been paid for my career is GH¢80,000 just got one night and it was an MC I did,” he stated.
Suarez proudly noted that he’s not just a standard comedian, implying that his talent is unique.
